Round of Milos

Round of Milos

Discover the beautiful coastline of Milos and its fantastic beaches, and find a new exciting way to spend your holidays.

Set sail with the “Mama Maria” of Excellent Yachting Ltd and have a great time!

Explore the whole of Milos and enchanting Kleftiko-an old prirate;s cove-taking part in the safari snorkeling tour led by our captain and on the ride in the tender to its magical caves.

Learn about the history of the island and how pirates used to live.

Combine the joys of sailing, swimming, diving and relaxing all day with photography, gastronomy and cave exploration.

Starting from the port of Adamas we will see on our right hand the traditional fishing villages with their “sirmata’’ (boathouses), Skinopi, Areti, Fourkovouni and Klima(first capital of the ancient civilization of Milos, with sites such as Cyclopean walls and christian catacombs dating to the 1stcentury B.C).

Then we will see “the Bears” at the entrance of the port- two large rocks shaped like bears. Crossing the whole entrance of the port of Adamas, which is the second largest natural bay (9 nautical miles wide) arriving at the amazing cape of Vani which is the largest emerging rock in the Mediterranean and consists of obsidian, iron and magganium.

Crossing the whole west side, which is protected by the Natura 2000 programme and boasts rare fauna and flora, we will see gorgeous beaches like Kalogries, Agkathia, Triades, Ammoudaraki and the monastery of Agios Ioannis Siderianos with its two miracles. It is then worth stop-weather permitting-outside the cave of Sykia where there is a unique beach inside a cave whose roof has collapsed.

Our next destination is Kleftiko, the famous site with its aweing, towering, white limestone forming intricate caves and tunnels of different colour depending on how the sun reflects on the waters. Kleftiko is an old pirate’s cove of unsurpassed beauty and one of the best protected places from the northern winds in the Mediterranean.

When we drop anchor, we get ready for the safari snorkeling tour. It’s a remarkable experience for both children and adults. We put on our masks and fins and follow a member of the crew on a fantastic journey, taking lots of underwater pictures and videos which we offer on DVD at the end of the cruise, or you can enjoy them on our page on Facebook “Milos Yachting(Farinola Yachts)”.Link. Every so often we stop to rest.

We then go exploring all around Kleftiko and its caves in our tender with the captain as our guide.

On return, there will be a lovely meal expecting us, freshly prepared on board, along with a large greek salad. We will eat with the view of the beautiful Kleftiko, and then relax before we make our way back.

We then cross the south side of the island with its gorgeous beaches Paleohori, Agia Kiriaki, Tsigardo Firiplaka and stop for a swim at Geraka with the small whitepebbles and impressive sandslides descending the mountain like a ski course in sand.

Then we pass the east side of the island stopping for a swim at Thiorihia, a magical place with emerald waters and yellow pebbles coloured by sulfur. It is the site of the sulfer mines which belonged to Victor Melas, the oldest sulfer mining enterprise in Greece.

We will enjoy our swim with the view of the old sulfer mines and the remains of the factory’s facilities. Old wagons on their rails, rusted tools, old offices, machinery parts and possesions belonging to workers create an aweing industrial atmosphere contrasting and at the same time in harmony with the island’s scenery. In 1905 operations stopped due to cheaper production of sulfer by other means, however in the 1930’s the mines were re-opened, creating the establishments seen today. The sulfer mines were operational until 1960, the business finally closing down in 1978.

As we return we will stop for a swim at the volcanicly formed Glaronisia, three islands of solid lava, of aweing and worth referencing morphology, and enjoy the colourful sunset.

Finally, we sail the bay of Adamas, with Adamas as our final destination.
